Promoting intercultural connectedness one classroom at a time

Mission Statement

We aspire to educate Malawan and American students about worldwide topics such as Climate Change, Pollution, and Globalization using the most up to date information from independent sources.

We strive to conduct this classroom in a way that is sensitive to Malawi culture and history, while also relatable and fun.

We hope to bring these two classes together to set a precedent for how cultures can come together to create an understanding and supportive global community.

Our Learning

Discussion and interculturality Based:

Discussion Based learning prioritizes the learner gaining knowledge, skills, and attitudes through discourse rather than approaches that focus on lecture, reading, or viewing

Encourage students from different cultures, beliefs and religions to have dialogues that discuss topics that interest them.

  • Allowing students to guide the learning

  • Create free flowing conversation

Interculturality: the existence and equitable interaction of diverse cultures and the possibility of generating shared cultural expressions through dialogue and mutual respect

  • Emphasize the universality of human rights, while maintaining cultural difference which may challenge aspects of these rights

  • Realize that the world is not all the same

  • Knowledge of these different cultures can help students gain an upper hand in a globalized world

We hope that the students acquire knowledge, skills and values that contribute to international understanding and cooperation among diverse individuals and groups in the world.

“Through programmes that encourage dialogue between students of different cultures, beliefs and religions, education can make an important and meaningful contribution to sustainable and tolerant societies."

“Learner needs to acquire knowledge, skills and values that contribute to a spirit of solidarity and cooperation among diverse individuals and groups in society”
